Meet Your Personal Tech Doctor

Kevin Mallory, Dr. Mac the Apple Tech support specialist based in Chico California

Kevin Mallory — Dr. Mac since 1986

I'm Kevin, but around here, most people know me as Dr. Mac—your go-to tech person for anything Apple.

I get it. Technology can be frustrating. You buy something that's supposed to make your life easier, and instead you're wrestling with settings, mysterious error messages, or features you'll never use. My job is to translate tech into something that actually works for the way you live.

Whether you need help today or just want someone you can trust when things go sideways, I'm here for you—in your home, on your device, or even on a video call from wherever you are in the world.

How I Fix the Friction

The Diagnosis

You tell me what's acting up. No pressure, no judgment—just a real conversation about what's bugging you.

The House Call

No packing up heavy iMacs or driving across town. I come directly to your home or office. We sit down, grab a coffee, (I never turn down a glass of water, no ice) and look at the issue exactly where and how it happens in your day-to-day life.

The Cure (and the Prevention)

We fix the problem. Then I make sure you understand why it happened—so you can spot trouble coming and know what to do. For customers outside northern California, I provide secure remote support via Splashtop SOS. Splashtop SOS logo If you have internet access, we can connect.

My Story

I bought my first Apple computer in 1984. No one knew what to do with it. So I figured it out. And then I started helping other people figure it out, too. By 1986, I was supporting Apple users in Plumas County—a decade and a half before the first Apple Store even existed.

Over the decades, I've supported Apple users through every single era, from System 3 all the way to Mac OS Tahoe and beyond. Today, I download developer versions of all operating systems ahead of general release. This means I understand the changes, quirks, and challenges long before you encounter them as a customer. That's how I stay ahead of the curve and solve problems that others simply don't understand.

Resilience & Rebuilding

After moving to Paradise in 2017, the Camp Fire in 2018 forced my family to completely rebuild our lives. We relocated through Glenn and Tehama counties before finally settling in the Chico area. Since first arriving in Butte County 9 years ago, I've deepened my local roots, expanding my face-to-face service across 11+ northeastern California counties while continuing to serve remote customers nationwide.

Support Anywhere—Even From the Beach

The internet allows me to reach people absolutely everywhere. I've helped customers on vacation all over Europe, Hawaii, the Bahamas, and Mexico—and I once even assisted a client on a cruise ship who had locked themselves out of their iPhone. I've also managed long-term remote support for an English teacher from California living in China for several years.

When you work with me, you get a dedicated lifeline. Even when I am on vacation myself, you can still reach me via text or phone. If you find yourself in a tech emergency while traveling, give me a call—text is even better. Even if I'm sitting on a beach, I am here to talk you through it.

Even if I'm wading out in the water at Isla Mujeres, off the coast of Mexico, I am here to talk you through it. The customer I was on the phone with wanted to know where I was, so I texted this photo to them.

My customers come back because I solve problems. Because I show up when I say I will. And because I actually care about getting it right.

Why Work With Me?

Zero Tech Jargon

I speak human, not code. We'll talk about what your computer or device does for you, not just the specs under the hood. Unless you ask.

Patience First

Whether you're a grandmother getting your very first iPhone and knowing absolutely nothing about it, or a creative professional needing maximum performance on a high-end Mac, I meet you exactly where you're at. I use clear terms you can actually understand, right in the comfort of your home or office.

A Trusted Neighbor

To me, you aren't a number on a support ticket. Most of my long-term clients end up becoming friends.

Your Complete Tech Solution

As your dedicated tech specialist, my goal is to provide a complete, end-to-end solution for your technology. For highly specialized or large-scale needs—including custom wiring, electrical configurations, and microscopic logic board repair—I may coordinate with a vetted network of trusted local specialists to ensure the job is done perfectly.

This established professional network guarantees that you're always taken care of without missing a beat, keeping me incredibly responsive to your needs no matter what.
